PT Beton Elemenindo Putra wins 2013 Sustainable Business Award Indonesia as Best SME

One year after winning the Regional (ASEAN) merit award the Singapore Environmental Achievement Award 2012 as the sole representative of Indonesia at the award, PT Beton Elemenindo Putra received its national-level accolade, in the form of Best SME (Small Medium Enterprise) at the Sustainable Business Award Indonesia (SBA ID) 2013.

SBA ID recognizes companies operating in Indonesia, of all sizes and sectors, who have demonstrated sincere and effective effort in environmental responsibility – in the virtue of their products, and in the way they operates.

The Sustainable Business Award Indonesia ceremony was performed on November 28 2013, at the gala dinner of the Business for the Environment (B4E) Indonesia Summit 2013, hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta by the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Global Initiatives, Berita Satu, and the Indonesian Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD). Among the winners, both multinationals, such as Nestle, Monsanto, Danone, as well as national companies, such as Garuda Indonesia and BNI, are well represented. PT. Beton Elemenindo Putra’s emergence as the SME winner shows its resilient commitment to do what is right, despite the company’s much smaller footprint as compared to these corporate giants.

The award ceremony was officiated by Minister of State of National Development and Head of BAPPENAS, Mrs. Armida Alisjahbana and special Advisor to the President, Mr. Emil Salim. It was a refreshing sight to see Mr. Salim, the well-respected former Indonesian Minister and a staunch guard of the environment, being present at the event.
